The Issey Miyake brand was created in Japan in 1970 by the designer and stylist of the same name. Miyake was born in 1938 in the ill-fated city of Hiroshima, where he was an eyewitness, aged just 7, to the atomic bomb explosion that he was lucky enough to survive. The young Miyake excelled in his sense of design and his research into fabrics. He was not afraid to rebel and impose new methods on traditional processes, which proved to be a positive choice. Building on his success, Issey Miyake also entered the world of fragrances in 1992. His fragrances are aimed at women, and are a mark of respect for Japanese traditions, culture and nature.
