The story begins in 1958 when Daniel Tribouillard was entrusted by Jacques Leonard with the launch of a design company: Leonard Fashion. A man of art, Daniel Tribouillard sought to differentiate his brand in the Haute Couture market. In 1960, he developed a revolutionary printing process that made it possible to print English Fully Fashioned weaves, which were very fashionable at the time but reputedly "unprintable". Customers were won over and the whole world applauded this daring man. In just a few years, encouraged by the success of his floral prints, which appealed so much to women, Daniel Tribouillard established the Leonard brand worldwide. He decided to develop his style further by adopting a wild, fragile flower with "no geometric limits" as the brand's emblem: the orchid. Leonard's originality therefore stems mainly from the unique and instantly recognisable style of its designs, but also from the materials used. In 1968, Daniel Tribouillard presented his first collection of printed silk jersey dresses and focused his advertising on the lightness of the fabric with his slogan "the Léonard dress, 150 grams of happiness". In the early 70s, the House diversified its production (perfumes, ties, silk scarves, etc.) and set up its own distribution network. As the years went by, a succession of innovations and inventions forged Leonard's reputation. In 1994, Leonard became a member of the Fédération Française de la Couture and organised its first fashion show at the Carrousel du Louvre.
